KKR Owner Shah Rukh Khan's Priceless Reaction To Russell's IPL Retirement

Bollywood superstar and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner Shah Rukh Khan shared a heartfelt post for Andre Russell after the latter announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday. After 12 seasons as a player in 'purple and gold', Russell confirmed that he will join KKR's support staff as the franchise's new "Power Coach" for the 2026 season. He will also continue playing in T20 leagues around the world and will remain part of the other Knight Riders teams globally.

Taking to social media after Russell's announcement, Shah Rukh Khan hailed the franchise legend for his contributions to KKR, adding that 'any other jersey would indeed look weird on him'.

"Thank you for the wonderful memories, Andre. Our Knight in shining armour!!! Your contribution to @KKRiders is one for the books... and here's to another chapter in your fantastic journey as a sportsman... The power coach - passing down the wisdom, the muscle and of course the power down to our boys in purple and gold... And yes, any other jersey would indeed look weird on you my man... Muscle Russell for life! Love u... on behalf of the team and everyone who loves the sport!!" the KKR co-owner posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Russell, who has not missed a season of the IPL since 2012, represented erstwhile Delhi Daredevils in his first two editions.

An all-rounder known for his brute force with the bat and a knack of taking wickets at key junctures, Russell played a total of 140 matches in the IPL and scored 2,651 runs at a strike rate of 174.18 with 12 fifties.

He also took 123 wickets at an economy rate of 9.51 with one five-wicket haul in his name.

Russell called time on his IPL playing career a day after Faf du Plessis, 41, announced that he would not take part in this year's edition as he will play in another league.

He was not retained by KKR ahead of the IPL 2026 mini auction.

"Arvind Kejriwal Betrayed Everyone": 2-Time AAP MLA Joins BJP In Delhi

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and two-time MLA Rajesh Gupta joined the BJP on Saturday ahead of the civic polls. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva welcomed him into the party.

Gupta criticised AAP national convenor and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, who he alleged considered party workers as "use and throw" objects. It is the biggest reason behind the party's downfall, he added.

Gupta even became emotional as he recalled his contributions to the AAP and the ill-treatment that he got from Kejriwal in return.

He said when the AAP was founded, many prominent individuals enthusiastically joined Kejriwal, but he betrayed everyone. "One by one, they all chose to leave him. Today, unfortunately, I have also joined that list," Gupta said.

He got upset after a municipal election ticket was given to a person to whom the AAP had itself issued notice earlier.

Sachdeva welcomed Gupta into the party by offering the traditional party stole in the presence of MLA Rajkumar Bhatia and media head Praveen Shankar Kapoor. The Delhi BJP chief said Gupta created a distinct identity for himself as a responsible MLA, but Kejriwal failed to value his contribution.

He said the way Kejriwal is missing from Delhi and the circumstances under which he left demand close examination.

Sachdeva said the AAP has pushed Delhi into such a poor situation over the last 12 years that its burden has now fallen upon the new government.

The BJP government is making efforts to gradually reduce this burden, he added, but Kejriwal, who calls himself Delhi's son, has completely disappeared because he knows Delhi has now seen his true face.

"Just as Aurangzeb plundered Delhi, Kejriwal, Sisodia and other senior AAP leaders have also harmed the city. After looting and indulging in corruption, AAP leaders are now comfortably settled in Punjab," Sachdeva added.

The AAP leader's induction into the BJP comes just a day before the civic by-elections.

As many as 53 candidates are in the fray for the 12 seats for which the Municipal Corporation of Delhi by-elections will be held. The BJP held nine out of the 12 vacant wards where the by-election is scheduled.

The by-elections have assumed significance for the BJP as these are the first political contest in the city since the party returned to power after 27 years in the assembly elections in February.

Some experts are calling the by-elections a virtual referendum on Chief Minister Rekha Gupta government's nine-month performance.

Karnataka's Familiar Tug-Of-War: Siddaramaiah vs DKS And A 2007 Shadow

Karnataka is again living through a crisis that feels eerily familiar. Over the last week senior Congress leaders, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar, moved from open rivalry to a breakfast featuring upma, idli, and sambar. The current contest evokes strong parallels to a previous chapter in Karnataka's political history which offers a cautionary tale.

In 2006-07 an ostensibly stable pact between the Janata Dal (Secular) (JDS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a rotational power-sharing arrangement collapsed into political acrimony, resignations and a period of President's Rule. The episode involved a familiar cast of JD(S) chief HD. Kumaraswamy and BJP stalwart BS Yediyurappa.

What Happened In 2006-07

In the aftermath of the 2004 Assembly elections, no party secured a majority resulting in a three-way split between the Congress, JD(S), and BJP. The JD(S)-Congress alliance first formed the government, but by 2006, JD(S), under Kumaraswamy, had switched allegiances to the BJP.

The bargain was a 20-month rotational chief-ministership with Kumaraswamy going first.

The arrangement was supposed to provide a stable alternative to Congress rule. But soon, cracks appeared. Corruption allegations and clashes over prominent infrastructure projects marred the relationship between the JD(S) and the BJP.

As the 20-month mark approached in late 2007, the JD(S) led by the father-son duo of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy balked at handing over power. The BJP felt betrayed and the coalition imploded.

Kumaraswamy resigned in October 2007, the Governor recommended dissolution, President's Rule was imposed, and in the chaos that followed Yediyurappa's first chief-ministerial stint in November 2007 lasted only days. Kumaraswamy accused central BJP leaders of conspiring while BJP accused JD(S) of reneging.

In May 2008, fresh elections were called and the BJP emerged victorious, winning 110 seats

Parallels With Today

In both cases two very senior leaders appear to be at the centre of a power tussle. In 2007 commentators argued that delays and indecision by national leaders and conflicting directions from national offices accelerated collapse. Today too commentators are asking whether the Congress high command has acted quickly or decisively enough to resolve the Siddaramaiah-Shivakumar standoff before it reaches a point of no return.

Then, the alliance between JD(S) (primarily Vokkaliga-leaning leadership) and BJP sought to capture multiple caste blocs for power. Now, caste organisations within Karnataka are warning that sidelining Shivakumar could alienate Vokkaliga votes.

In 2006, the rotational Chief Ministership was accepted as a necessity and in 2025, similar rumours of a two-and-a-half-year power-sharing agreement have taken hold.

Sourav Ganguly's Wife Files Complaint Against Social Media Abuse

Renowned Odissi dancer Dona Ganguly has lodged a complaint with the police after being allegedly targeted with abusive and derogatory remarks on social media, an officer said on Friday.

The dancer, also the wife of former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly, filed the formal complaint with Thakurpukur police station, following which the police started an investigation against unidentified persons.

"The abusive posts emerged around Dona Ganguly's dance performance at the Kolkata Film Festival. The complaint specifically pointed to a Facebook page that targeted her," the police officer said.

In the complaint lodged on Wednesday evening, she alleged that through the social media page, users not only "body shamed" her but also insulted her, causing damage to her reputation.

"She has described these acts as defamatory and stated that the posts were intended to tarnish her honour," the officer said, adding that Dona Ganguly provided screenshots of the abusive posts along with a mobile number associated with the Facebook page.

"We are working to identify the individuals responsible for the offensive posts. We are tracing the posts and the associated mobile number to identify the perpetrators," he added.

UP Man Thrashes Wife, Leaves Home. Then She Video Calls Him, Hangs Herself

What started as a love story ended in a tragedy in Uttar Pradesh.

A woman died by suicide during a video call with her husband after a fight between them in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur on Wednesday.

The man, Shubham Diwakar, was an alcoholic. When he returned home in the Ramlala Mohalla area of Rawatpur from work on Wednesday evening, he asked his wife, Mona, for money to buy alcohol. When she refused, an enraged Diwakar beat her up brutally. After the assault, he took the money from her and left the house to drink.

Sixteen minutes later, a weeping Mona allegedly made a WhatsApp video call to him and hung herself in front of him. Diwakar allegedly rushed home to save her, but the door was locked from the inside. The door was broken down by the police who arrived at the spot after being informed by the neighbours. By then, she had already died. The officials also gave her CPR in an attempt to revive her but to no avail.

Mona and Shubham Diwakar had a love marriage seven years ago. She is survived by her husband and two children. Diwakar used to work at a private company, and she worked as a 'welcome girl', who greeted guests at wedding functions, to support the family.

When her friends, who worked with her, received the news of her death, they rushed outside the postmortem house where her body was taken. The angry women surrounded Mona's husband and beat him up. The commotion continued for about two hours. Mona's friends also accused Diwakar of deleting all call history from Mona's mobile phone to destroy evidence.

Rawatpur police station in-charge Manoj Mishra said Mona's family has not filed any complaint so far. If any complaint is received, appropriate action will be taken, he said.

The neighbours of the couple, meanwhile, have claimed that Diwakar used to torture her often after drinking.

India, Canada Look To Reset Ties As Talks Begin On Key Trade Deal CEPA

In a significant diplomatic breakthrough, India and Canada have agreed to launch negotiations on a high-ambition Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), marking a major reset in ties after years of turbulence. The development was announced following a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on the sidelines of the G20 Leaders' Summit in Johannesburg today.

The Canada-India CEPA negotiations began in 2010 and gained momentum in 2022 with enhanced cooperation in sectors such as pharmaceuticals and critical and rare earth minerals, as well as in areas like tourism, urban infrastructure, renewable energy and mining. The talks were suspended by Canada in 2023.

According to a statement issued by India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) late Sunday, both sides committed to pursuing an ambitious trade pact aimed at doubling bilateral trade to $50 billion by 2030. The renewed engagement also includes deepening longstanding civil nuclear cooperation and advancing discussions on long-term uranium supply arrangements, an area of shared strategic interest.

This diplomatic thaw comes after a prolonged period of strain between New Delhi and Ottawa. Over the past several years, India has repeatedly raised concerns about the Khalistani extremist networks operating from Canadian soil, which it says pose a direct threat to India's national security. Ties deteriorated sharply in 2023 after former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau levelled unsubstantiated allegations against India regarding the killing of a Canadian citizen linked to Khalistani separatism. India dismissed the claims as politically motivated and lacking evidence, leading to reciprocal diplomatic downsizing and a freeze in trade negotiations.

The shift in tone began earlier this year, driven by sustained engagement between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Canadian counterpart Anita Anand. The two leaders met multiple times, paving the way for confidence-building measures and the gradual restoration of normal diplomatic channels. In October 2025, both countries formally announced the normalisation of diplomatic ties, including the reinstatement of High Commissioners in New Delhi and Ottawa.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, speaking to the media earlier on Sunday, said, "Canada is reengaging pragmatically with global giants India and China. Yesterday, Canada, India and Australia formed a new trilateral partnership on technology and innovation, which will accelerate our cooperation in critical and emerging technologies. The partnership will draw on our strengths and will focus on clean energy, critical minerals and artificial intelligence to unlock more opportunities for Canadian workers and businesses".

The potential trade deal is likely to include goods, services, investments, agriculture, digital trade, labour mobility and sustainable development, including the mutual interest in advancing the use of AI and digital technology.

The Johannesburg meeting appears to have consolidated that momentum. Apart from CEPA, PM Modi and Carney welcomed the Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation (ACTI) Partnership aimed at boosting trilateral cooperation in critical technologies, AI, nuclear energy, and supply chain diversification.

With negotiations on CEPA set to begin and high-level exchanges back on track, India and Canada now stand poised to rebuild a partnership once considered jeopardised. The coming months will test whether this political reset can translate into durable economic and strategic gains for both nations.

'You Have Votes, I Have Funds': Ajit Pawar's 'Threat' To Voters In Malegaon

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar set the cat among the pigeons while campaigning for local elections when he appeared to threaten voters, saying he would release funds he had promised only if all of his party's candidates were elected.

Addressing a rally for the Nagar Panchayat elections at Malegaon in Baramati tehsil on Friday, the NCP chief, who also holds the Finance portfolio, said the party had fielded 18 candidates.

"The Centre and the state have many schemes. The Prime Minister, chief minister and both deputy chief ministers have worked on these together. If all of us work together and implement these schemes properly, we can ensure development for Malegaon," Pawar said.

"I will ensure there is no shortage of funds if you elect all 18 NCP candidates. If you elect all of them, I will fulfil whatever I have promised. But if you 'cut' my candidates, I will also "cut" (the funds). You have the power to vote, and I have the power to release funds. Now decide what you want to do," he said.

The Opposition slammed the deputy chief minister's remarks and also wondered why the Election Commission has not taken any action.

"Funds are given from the taxes paid by the common people and not from Ajit Pawar's house. If a leader like Pawar is threatening voters, what is the Election Commission doing?" Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasheb BT) leader Ambadas Danve was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

Elections for Nagar Panchayats will be held on December 2.

Earlier Remarks

This is not the first time Pawar has landed himself in hot water with his comments. In January, he was scheduled to address a public meeting in his Assembly constituency of Baramati when he was handed memoranda with demands.

An angry Pawar had then said, "You have voted for me, but that doesn't mean you own me."

In September, Pawar had sparked a controversy when he was accused of threatening a woman police officer who was cracking down on illegal excavation in Solapur.

The officer, who had been posted to Maharashtra only recently, was handed a phone by an NCP worker and told Pawar was on the line. She informed the deputy chief minister she did not recognise his voice and asked him to call on her cellphone.

"Main tere upar action lunga (I will act against you). Tujhe mujhe dekhna hai na? Tera number de do ya WhatsApp call karo. Mera chehra toh aapko samajh mein aaega na? (You want to see me, right? Give me your number or call me on WhatsApp. You will recognise my face, right?)... Itna aapko daring hua hai kya (How dare you?)," he asked the officer, before video-calling her and asking her to stop the action she was taking.

Pawar had later claimed he was not threatening the officer or interfering with the law, but was trying to prevent an escalation in the situation on the ground.

In 2013, the NCP leader had mocked a farmer who had been on a hunger strike for nearly two months, demanding water be released from a dam in the drought-hit state.

"There is this person from Solapur, sitting on hunger strike for 55 days, demanding water be released from the dam. But where are we going to get water from? Should we urinate? And when we don't have water to drink, it's hard to pass urine as well," he had said.

'What Are They Smoking?' India A Blasted For Suryavanshi's Super Over Snub

In a baffling turn during the semi-final of the Rising Stars Asia Cup 2025 in Doha, the management of India A left 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi stranded in the dug-out during the Super Over, even after his explosive 38 off 15 in the match proper. The decision saw India A crash out to Bangladesh A without scoring in the tie-breaker, prompting former India pacer Dodda Ganesh to publicly lambast the leadership with a blunt "What are these guys smoking?" reaction on X.

India A, captained by Jitesh Sharma, were knocked out of the tournament after facing Bangladesh A in what should have been a straightforward Super Over. The main match saw Bangladesh A post 194/6 in 20 overs, powered by opener Habibur Rahman Sohan's 65 and a fiery 48 off 18 from SM Meherob. India A responded with a blazing 50-run opening burst in just 19 deliveries, largely thanks to Suryavanshi's assault of two fours and five sixes. His wicket, however, swung the momentum back to Bangladesh's way. India A's chase came down to the last-ball, in which the side needed four runs but scored three.

In the Super Over, the management went with Jitesh Sharma and Ramandeep Singh as the two hitters, leaving Suryavanshi out. Jitesh was dismissed first ball by a perfect yorker from Ripon Mondal, and Ashutosh Sharma - who came in next - fell on the very first ball he faced. India A thus set a target of one run and Bangladesh A reached home with a wicket in hand.

Ganesh didn't hold back in his social-media blast:

"Not sending Vaibhav Suryavamshi to bat in the Super over? What are these guys smoking?

This pointed critique puts pressure on India A's management to justify their game-time decisions in critical moments.

In the post-match remarks, captain Jitesh claimed the choice was made because he, Ashutosh and Ramandeep were "good hitters at the death". He said that factored into excluding Suryavanshi from the equation.

How Ukraine Intelligence Used AI Lover, Beer To Nearly Kill Russian Official

Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) says it has uncovered a plot to poison a high-ranking Russian officer of the Ministry of Defence in an attack disguised as a gift from an online love interest.

According to the FSB, the officer narrowly avoided consuming beer that investigators say had been doctored with a British-made version of nerve agent VX, a substance capable of killing within 20 minutes. The bottles were intercepted before the officer could drink them, and a resident of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) was taken into custody.

The officer told Russian media that the chain of events began months earlier, when he met a woman named Polina on an online application. Their exchanges soon shifted to Telegram, where she regularly sent photos and videos of herself.

"She sent me photos and videos from the gym several times, all roughly the same. After a few months of our communication, she said she wanted to give me a gift, which she would deliver through a friend," he told Russian media.

The "friend" was the man now under arrest. FSB officials say he had been instructed by Ukraine's military intelligence service, the GUR, and had been promised $5,000 for delivering two packages of British beer.

Polina, investigators say, was never a real person at all but a manufactured profile created by the GUR through artificial intelligence to lure the officer into the trap.

"Based on the results of the tests on the confiscated bottles, it was established that the beer contained a mixture of highly toxic poisons, colchicine and tert-butyl bicyclophosphate (an analogue of the military-grade nerve agent VX, banned by the 1993 Chemical Weapons Convention), produced in Britain, which, when consumed, causes an agonising death within 20 minutes," the FSB noted.

The "friend" contacted the officer, arranged a meeting point, and handed over the package. Within moments, FSB personnel intervened and detained him.

"I was ordered to carefully place the package on the ground. After which they explained to me that the bag contained beer, which contained a military-grade poison intended to eliminate me, and that Polina's account was used by Ukrainian intelligence officers," he said.

Hate Lessons: How Kerala Mother Helped UK-Based Man Radicalise Her Teen Son

The Kerala Police FIR into the alleged ISIS indoctrination of a 15-year-old boy identifies his mother as an active participant in the effort to radicalise him, working in coordination with a UK-based ISIS supporter. The document, accessed by NDTV, sets out in detail how the minor was allegedly exposed to ISIS propaganda, instructed to hate other religions, and encouraged to adopt the terror group's ideology.

Filed under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), the FIR names two primary accused. The first, identified as Anzar, is described in the document as a member of the so-called Islamic State terror organisation, currently residing in Leicester in the United Kingdom. According to investigators, he allegedly showed the teenager graphic ISIS murder videos on his laptop and presented the group's ideology as the "greatest path of Islam". The FIR states that Anzar urged the boy to embrace ISIS as the "true path of Islam" and sought to cultivate hostility toward other religions.

The second accused is the boy's mother, Fidha Mohammed Ali, who investigators say supported and enabled the radicalisation attempt. The FIR records that she allegedly acted in coordination with Anzar. Police sources say the working assumption is that both individuals jointly influenced, guided and attempted to indoctrinate the minor.

The Kerala Police believe the case may reflect a wider network. Preliminary indications, according to sources, suggest sleeper elements linked to the terror group could be functioning in parts of the state. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has begun a preliminary inquiry and is preparing for a full takeover of the probe. Once jurisdiction shifts, the Kochi NIA office will register a fresh FIR and assume control of the investigation.

The case has further significance because of Anzar's family background. NDTV earlier reported that his brother, Siddhiqul, was convicted in the 2016 Kanakamala ISIS conspiracy case. In that case, eight individuals were charge-sheeted for allegedly plotting attacks in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Sources said that although Anzar was placed under surveillance during the 2016 investigation, he was not charged because he was living in Ukraine at the time. A retired NIA officer told NDTV that investigators may now consider alerting Interpol to facilitate Anzar's deportation.

The ongoing inquiry has also led officers to re-examine all previously listed suspects from the 2016 case to determine whether any dormant networks may have been revived. According to NIA officials, each person earlier chargesheeted or named in the Kanakamala investigation is being tracked again as part of the new assessment.

It is fitting that a Celebration Cricket Match has been scheduled between Team Groom and Team Bride! May both these teams win in the game of life. I send my blessings to the couple for the momentous occasion. (Narendra Modi)."

'Gold Renting' Explained: How The Rich Are 'Leasing' Out Gold For Income

Gold leasing or "renting" idle gold to jewellers and refiners is an emerging trend among investors. Gold prices have been hitting record highs this year, prompting wealthy investors to rethink how they use their bullion. Instead of letting their gold bars sit idle in vaults, many are now leasing them to refiners, jewellers, and manufacturers in exchange for interest, challenging the very notion of gold as a non-yielding asset.

"People are no longer just buying gold and waiting for it to go up to $5,000," Keith Weiner, founder and CEO of Monetary Metals told CNBC.

Demand for gold leasing has also spiked in India, driving lease rates from 2-3% to 6-7% in recent months. Factors like the festival season, weddings, and a supply shortage have pushed gold prices up. Digital gold apps and monetisation schemes have made it possible for everyday investors to earn extra income.

Turning Gold Into A Source Of Income

This strategy provides a way to generate passive income from a non-yielding asset, which appeals to investors looking for additional returns beyond gold's appreciation in value. Gold leasing activity has seen a sharp rise in 2025, with one firm reporting a jump in leasing volume from 2 million to 40 million, CNBC reported. It reflects a broader trend of investors looking to generate returns even from traditionally passive assets.

"We're getting a lot of calls from people saying, 'I have $2 million of gold bars, I have $1 million of gold bars, can you help me lease it out? There's been a huge change in the last few months, and a lot of wealthy clients are now receptive to the idea of leasing gold," said Gaurav Mathur, founder of SafeGold.

How Does It Work?

The gold leasing process works like a loan, but instead of cash, the asset is denominated in ounces of gold.

Investors lend gold to a leasing platform or financial institution, which then loans it to businesses needing the metal for production. Jewellers, refiners, or manufacturers use the gold to make products, avoiding the need to borrow money or risk gold price fluctuations. They sell the finished items at current prices, pay a lease rate (interest in gold), and return the same amount of gold or renew the lease when it matures.

Investors receive returns, typically in the form of additional grams of gold, which can range from 2-7% annually. The lease tenure can vary from several weeks to months. At the end of the term, the original amount of gold, along with the accumulated yield, is credited back to the investor's digital account. It's a way to diversify portfolios and hedge against economic uncertainty, inflation, and currency fluctuations.

Billionaires like Eric Sprott and Seth Klarman endorse gold as a safeguard against financial instability.

What Are The Risks?

One of the primary risk is if the borrower, such as a jeweller or refiner, defaults or goes bankrupt, the lender may not recover their gold. There's also market volatility to consider. If gold prices rise sharply during the lease period, the lender may lose out on potential gains from selling.

Liquidity risk is another factor, as leased gold may not be immediately retrievable if the lender needs it back. Operational risks such as mishandling, loss, or theft during transport or use also pose threats. Additionally, interest rate risk exists, as returns from leasing may not keep pace with inflation or other investment opportunities. Lastly, lenders may face reputational risk if their gold is used by companies engaged in unethical practices.

To mitigate this, many platforms implement safety protocols. Many companies conduct extensive due diligence and partner with established jewellers. Some also secure the leased gold with a bank guarantee.

Risks For Small Investors

Leasing physical gold isn't ideal for small holders. It's better to hold or invest in structured gold instruments that match your scale and risk appetite.

  • Most gold leasing programs, especially those run by refiners or institutions, require larger quantities, often in hundreds of grams or more, to make logistics and processing worthwhile.
  • You may not get your gold back easily or quickly, which defeats one of gold's main purpose as a asset.
  • Such leasing options are often available only to institutional or HNI investors (High Net-Worth Individuals)
  • For small investors, it's better to hold gold in forms like SGBs (Sovereign Gold Bonds), which offer fixed interest and capital appreciation, or invest through digital gold or ETFs if liquidity and security are priorities.

Old Video Accusing Priyanka Of Using 'Hired Fans' For PR Resurfaces Online

As excitement builds around Priyanka Chopra's newly titled film Varanasi, a 2018 airport video of the actress, long forgotten by many, has resurfaced on social media. The clip has sparked renewed allegations that her PR team once used "hired fans" to create buzz around her public appearances.

Old Video Reignites Accusations Of PR Theatrics

In the video, the same two fans appear to run after Priyanka twice within minutes - first at the airport entrance and then again in front of the media - leading some internet users to suggest the moment was orchestrated. Many called the behaviour suspicious, questioning why the same people would chase a celebrity across terminals.

Online reactions have been swift. One user commented, "2 people ask for autographs...and the same people ask for it again on the 2nd terminal in front of media to Priyanka Chopra as if they were her fans. .. A big thumbs down, PC!!"

Another wrote, "She is literally handling her own fan page," while a third added, "Full fake personality, fake accent."

The resurfacing of the video has overshadowed what was otherwise a celebratory moment for the cast and crew of Varanasi, especially with Priyanka returning to India and re-engaging with fans and media.

Priyanka's Collaboration With Mahesh Babu And Prithviraj Sukumaran

Despite the noise online, Priyanka Chopra has remained focused on her professional commitments. After the Globetrotter event in Hyderabad, she shared on Instagram a series of photos featuring Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran, expressing her excitement about the project.

"Working alongside these two legends of the Telugu and Malayalam industries, and coming together for an SS Rajamouli film, is already such a privilege. On top of that we're promoting our movie with the international media, almost a year ahead of its release! Seeing their reactions and the anticipation building is exciting to say the least. By God's grace, we will live up to your expectations," she wrote.

The Globetrotter event, held on November 15, marked the official unveiling of Varanasi, previously known as SSMB29.

Amit Shah Replies To Kerala MP In Malayalam Amid 'Hindi Imposition' Debate

For a party often accused in the south of pushing Hindi at the cost of regional languages, the Union Home Ministry's latest communication stood out. Amit Shah has replied to CPI(M) MP John Brittas in Malayalam, marking what is seen as the first instance of a Union Home Minister issuing an official response in the language.

The gesture comes as Kerala moves into election mode and at a time when the BJP is working to expand its footprint in the state after winning its first ever Lok Sabha seat there in the 2024 general election.

The choice of Malayalam also carries added weight because Brittas himself has been a persistent advocate for linguistic parity in parliament. He has earlier demanded translation devices for MPs who struggle with lengthy Hindi speeches during debates, arguing that true legislative participation requires equal linguistic access.

Shah's reply dated November 14 formally acknowledged Brittas' detailed representation of October 22 on the notification that makes chargesheeting grounds for cancelling Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) registration. In his letter, Brittas said the measure violates due process, erodes natural justice and exposes OCI cardholders to arbitrary action in the absence of a judicial finding.

He said the OCI scheme has long served as a bridge between India and its diaspora, symbolising openness, continuity and emotional connection.

Even though the Home Minister's letter was procedural, the inclusion of a full Malayalam version alongside Hindi was striking. It signalled a political recognition of the language in which the concerns were raised and came at a moment when debates on linguistic federalism are intensifying.

Brittas has maintained that the core constitutional objections remain unresolved and that the August 12 notification exceeds the scope of the Citizenship Act, 1955. But even as the legal questions persist, the language of the response has added a fresh layer to the political conversation in a region where identity and language remain central to political assertion.

Gambhir's Blunt Verdict On Batters After Disappointing Loss To SA: "Not Fair"

India's head coach Gautam Gambhir on Sunday backed Eden Gardens' under-fire curator while lamenting his batters' inability to "absorb pressure" and find a way to score runs on the challenging surface in the opening Test against South Africa. Proteas successfully defended 124 to humble India by 30 runs, having bowled the home team out for 93 in their second innings to wrap up the match under three days. The result continued the worrying trend of home reversals that has seen them lose four of their last six home Tests and nine of the 18 matches under Gambhir.

"It was not an unplayable wicket, there were no demons," Gambhir said at the post-match media interaction.

"If you are willing to put your head down and if you have a solid defense, if you have a temperament, you can definitely score runs," he said.

The match saw 38 wickets (as Shubman Gill was retired hurt) fall in just eight sessions and out of them the pacers had a share of 16, while spinners accounted for 22.

"We keep talking about turning track, but if you look at the 40 wickets, majority of the wickets went to seamers," Gambhir said in his assessment.

"So, if you are out on the turning track or seamers. I don't think it was a tough wicket. It was a wicket where your technique can be judged, your mental toughness can be challenged, and more important than that is your temperament.

"Because if you are looking to grind, if you are looking to bat long, then you can make runs. But if you are in an attacking mindset, or if you try to play attacking cricket, then it is difficult.

"All the people who have played good defence, whether it is KL Rahul, Temba or Washington, all of them have made runs." The focus before the match was on curator Sujan Mukherjee as the pitch was not watered for more than a week and kept under covers in the evening.

Sujan supportive

Gambhir said these are exactly the conditions they wanted and said Mukherjee was "very supportive".

"This is exactly the pitch we were looking for. The curator was very, very helpful and supportive. This is exactly what we wanted and this is exactly what we got. When you don't play well, this is what happens.

"Yes, it might not be a wicket which is going to be very flamboyant where you can play those big shots. But if you are willing to put your head down, definitely it is a wicket where you can score." Trailing 0-1, there will be no margin for error for Gambhir's men as they look to win in Guwahati and level the two-Test series, while reigning World Test Champions South Africa will be eyeing to bag their second Test series win in India, and first after 2000.

Asked whether the pitch narrative would be similar in Guwahati, Gambhir said: "We've always said that the turning wicket should be where there's very little turn on day one so that the toss doesn't become an important factor.

"We've never said that we want to play on a bad wicket or we want to play on rank-turners. Ultimately, if we had won this test match, you wouldn't even be talking about this pitch.

"So, my point is, we need to improve mentally and skill-wise rather than discussing the wicket. Because wickets are the same for both teams.

"So, whatever we get in Guwahati, we've got the guys to deliver in any condition and on any surface as well."

Gambhir refused to question their technique or temperament, though he hinted repeatedly at a lack of match awareness within the young group.

"Obviously, it was tough because we always knew that we were one down. Obviously, Shubham wasn't there and then losing two before lunch. Obviously, literally, we were three down.

"But we always felt that if we can get those partnerships, if we can have a 50 runs partnership or two 40 runs partnership, we will be in the game.

"And we were at one stage having that kind of a partnership as well when Dhruv and Washi were batting and then when Washi and Jaddu were batting."

"You win as a team, you lose as a team. It's not right on my part to give ratings on my part. It's not fair to blame the batters they tried everything possible.

"They gave everything they had. But yes, we still need to keep getting better if we want to play on these harder wickets," he added.

One of the biggest talking points was Rishabh Pant's decision on the third morning to not start Jasprit Bumrah from the more threatening Club House End as he began much later from the High Court end.

"There is no hindsight in Test cricket," he said, adding that India's tactical calls were "spot on", irrespective of the final result.

Of the team's seven Test wins under Gambhir, four have come against lowly Bangladesh and West Inidies at home.

"We should not compare different eras. There was no DRS. There are a lot of youngsters in this dressing room. Thers is not much experience in batting from top to bottom, I think more than the skill, in Test match cricket not only skill is required, but mental toughness is also required, he said.

"Because in Test cricket, if you are not able to absorb pressure, because no matter how much turning the wicket is, the first 10-15 minutes are tough.

"Once you see off that, you get used to the pace of the wicket and things start getting easier. So, I think more than the skill, I think it's the ability to absorb pressure." He also gave an update on the status of Gill's availability for the second Test.

"He's still being assessed. The physio will take a call today." PTI TAP TAP AH AH

US Patient Sick With Bird Flu Virus That Has "Pandemic Potential": Report

A resident of Washington state has been admitted to the hospital with an H5N5 bird flu infection, according to state health authorities. The strain detected in this patient has not previously been identified in humans, making the case noteworthy even though federal officials still consider the overall public threat to be low, according to a report by CNN.

This is the first reported human infection with avian influenza in the United States in nine months, yet the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention maintains that the current risk to the broader population remains limited.

Health officials describe the patient as an older adult from Grays Harbor County who already faced underlying medical issues. The individual has been hospitalised since early this month.

Investigators have not pinpointed how the virus was contracted, though early indications suggest that backyard poultry could be the source, and both health and agricultural agencies are continuing to probe the circumstances.

Avian influenza can be transmitted through an infected animal's saliva, mucus, faeces, and, in dairy cattle, milk. The likelihood of transmission typically increases during late fall and winter when migrating birds encounter domestic flocks.

Although avian influenza has long circulated among wild birds across the globe, the current US outbreak, which began in January 2022, has involved more infections in mammals than previous episodes.

There has been no evidence of human-to-human spread in the United States, but Washington state officials are monitoring people who may have had close contact with the patient to check for symptoms and offer testing or preventive treatment.

Despite the low overall risk, influenza researchers warn that the virus still poses concerns. Dr Richard Webby underscored the uncertainty around its evolution, saying the virus has "pandemic potential".

He added, "I think it's clear it's not an easy leap for this virus to make, to switch from being a duck virus to being a human virus. I think that's pretty clear, but I certainly wouldn't put money on the fact that it can't make that leap. It's going to take a little bit of the biologic stars aligning for that to happen. We could argue exactly how likely that is, but no one actually knows. Only time will tell us, unfortunately."

According to the CDC, 70 human cases have been identified in the US during the current outbreak. One elderly patient with existing medical conditions died in January.

Most cases have been mild, with symptoms such as red eyes or fever, although a few individuals have experienced more severe illness. The majority of those infected have direct and frequent exposure to animals. 41 cases have occurred among cattle workers and 24 among poultry workers, while two cases involved other forms of animal contact and three had no clear source.

The CDC urges people who regularly handle animals to wear appropriate protective gear and to exercise caution around animal waste.

Washington's Department of Health advises residents cleaning bird feeders or other areas contaminated by bird droppings to wear gloves and to disinfect surfaces with either a commercial product like Lysol or a bleach solution made by mixing one part bleach with ten parts water.

People are also encouraged to avoid approaching sick or dead wildlife and to use gloves, a well-fitting mask, and an inverted plastic bag when disposing of a dead bird. Double-bagging the carcass and placing it in a sealed trash bin prevents scavengers from accessing it, and thorough handwashing afterward is essential.

Officials additionally caution against consuming undercooked or unpasteurised dairy or meat products, including raw milk and raw cheese.

Public health leaders also recommend receiving the seasonal influenza vaccine. Although the standard flu shot does not protect against bird flu, it helps reduce the already low chance that a person could be simultaneously infected with both viruses, a situation that could potentially allow the avian influenza virus to mutate into a form capable of spreading more easily among people.

CSK Break Silence After Trading Ravindra Jadeja To RR: "He Was Very Clear"

Chennai Super Kings Managing Director Kasi Viswanathan discussed the franchise trading their key all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja to Rajasthan Royals, describing it as one of the most difficult decisions the team management had to make. Ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, the league confirmed on Saturday that Jadeja and Sam Curran had been traded to RR, with CSK receiving Sanju Samson in exchange.
Although the news had been circulating for nearly a week, official confirmation from both franchises left many fans heartbroken. Both Jadeja and Samson had been integral parts of their respective teams, becoming the faces of their sides.

However, the CSK MD stated that the decision was mutual, and the players believed a change was necessary.

"Chennai Super Kings, as you know, have traded Jadeja and Sam Curran for Sanju Samson from Rajasthan Royals. As a franchise, you might know that over the years, we have not used the path of trading, except for one year when we got Robin Uthappa. The team management felt the need for a top-order Indian batsman. And since not many Indian batsmen are going to be available at the auction, we thought the best way to get an Indian top-order batter is to go through the trade window.

"And hence we have to take this call. And, this decision has been taken by the team management and it is a very tough decision leaving out Jaddu, who has been responsible for the success of CSK over the years. It was probably one of the toughest decisions that CSK had to take, that the team management had to take. Considering the transition of CSK at this point of time, the team management took the toughest decision.

"It is a must that we should consult with the players concerned. And it was after mutual agreement that we under took this. When I spoke to Jadeja, he was also very clear that if there is an opportunity for him because he is also, he also felt that he was at the fag end of his career in white ball. So he also felt that he can have a break," Kasi said in a video shared by the CSK.

"Sam Curran was with us in 2020, 2021 and 2025. He has been a Consistent performer for us. As I said earlier, leaving out Sam as well as Jaddu was one of the toughest calls. We have certain players who are at the fag end of their career. And it is very important for CSK to build a team in the next couple of years. And since this is a mini auction, we don't have the opportunity to get the best of the Indian batsmen.

"Sanju has been one of the most experienced IPL batsmen, having scored more than 4,500 runs. And he has also been leading Rajasthan Royals. He has the experience and he is only around 30 years. So, we thought that he will be a good addition for CSK to take care of the future. Emotionally, the fans will be very very upset because I have already got a lot of messages from the fans. But taking into account the current status of the team composition, nothing tank of the CSK cricket management felt the need for a change. And I am sure that in the years to come, CSK will maintain the same kind of consistency and also perform well," he added.

Jadeja, who played for CSK for 12 seasons and appeared in over 250 matches, is one of the most experienced players in the league. According to the trade agreement, his league fee has been reduced from Rs 18 crore to Rs 14 crore.

Meanwhile, Samson will represent CSK at his current league fee of Rs 18 crore. With 177 IPL matches to his name, he is also one of the league's most experienced players. This will be only his third franchise. Since his IPL debut in 2013, the senior player has mostly played for RR, apart from two seasons-2016 and 2017-when he played for Delhi Capitals.

"Mockery Of Cricket": Harbhajan Singh Blasts India vs South Africa Pitch

At one point, in the last session on Day 2 of the 1st India vs South Africa Test, it looked like the match would come to an end. South Africa batters struggled on an Eden Gardens pitch that offered prodigious turn. South Africa ended Day 2 of the first Test at Eden Gardens in deep trouble at 93/7, as India's spinners ripped through their batting line‑up. Ravindra Jadeja was the star performer, finishing the day with four wickets and once again proving why he is almost unplayable in home conditions. At Tea, South Africa were 18/1, but the final session turned into a complete collapse.

The Proteas lost six wickets while adding just 75 runs, unable to counter the turn and accuracy of India's spin trio. In total, the day produced 15 wickets, three in the morning, six in the afternoon, and six more in the final session.

India's spin great Harbhajan Singh was shocked at the turn of events. “Test cricket India vs South Africa – the game almost over on Day 2 isn't finished yet. What a mockery of Test cricket #RIPTESTCRICKET,” he wrote on X.

Aiden Markram was the first to go in the final session, dismissed for 4 by Jadeja. Wiaan Mulder followed for 11, with the left‑arm spinner striking again. Tony de Zorzi also failed to make an impact, falling for 2 as Jadeja pocketed his third of the day, leaving South Africa at 40/4. Tristan Stubbs became Jadeja's fourth victim, bowled for 5, before Marco Jansen was removed for 13 by Kuldeep Yadav, who picked up his second wicket of the innings.

Axar Patel also chipped in with a wicket, keeping the pressure firmly on the visitors. Jadeja's figures of 4/29 added another milestone to his outstanding home record. He is now the second cricketer after Stuart Broad to register both 2,000‑plus runs and 250‑plus wickets in a single country.

With 2,154 runs and 250 wickets in 52 home Tests, Jadeja also became the fourth Indian to claim 250 wickets on home soil. He is now the seventh bowler to reach 150 wickets in the World Test Championship (WTC) and the third spinner to do so.

Kuldeep Yadav ended the day with 2/12, while Axar Patel returned 1/30. Corbin Bosch on 1 and skipper Temba Bavuma on 29 were unbeaten at stumps, with South Africa holding a slender lead of 63 runs – one they will hope to stretch on Day 3 to stay alive in the contest. Earlier, fiery bowling spells from South African spinner Simon Harmer and pacer Marco Jansen restricted India to 189/9.

Earlier on Day One, the Proteas won the toss and opted to bat first. Despite a half‑century partnership between openers Aiden Markram (31 in 48 balls, with five fours and a six) and Ryan Rickelton (23 in 22 balls, with four boundaries), the current WTC champions could not battle the pace and class of Jasprit Bumrah (5/27) and Mohammed Siraj (2/47), and were skittled out for 159 runs. India ended the first day at 37/1, with Marco Jansen getting Yashasvi Jaiswal for 12.

Brief scores: South Africa 159 & 93/7 (Temba Bavuma 29*, Marco Jansen 13; Ravindra Jadeja 4/29) vs India 189/9 (KL Rahul 39, Washington Sundar 29, Simon Harmer 4/30).

4 Terror Accused Doctors Lose Registrations, Can't Practice In India

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has cancelled the registrations of the four doctors involved in the Jaish-e-Mohammed terror module behind the Delhi blast on November 10.

The commission issued notice cancelling the Indian Medical Register (IMR) and the National Medical Register (NMR) of the doctors - Muzaffar Ahmad, Adeel Ahmad Rather, Muzamil Shakeel and Shaheen Saeed - with immediate effect.

The doctors "can no longer practice medicine or hold any medical appointment anywhere in India", the notice states.

According to the NMC's order, the cancellations were triggered by evidence shared by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the J&K and Uttar Pradesh Medical Councils, which found the doctors "prima facie involved" in a terror-linked case centred on a trans-regional module.

"Inconsistent With Medical Ethics"

The NMC said the alleged conduct of the four doctors was "inconsistent with the standards of integrity, propriety and public trust expected of the medical profession."

Three of the doctors - Muzaffar Ahmad, Adeel Ahmad Rather and Muzamil Shakeel - were first stripped of their registration by the Jammu and Kashmir Medical Council. The Uttar Pradesh Medical Council separately flagged Shaheen Saeed's involvement. The NMC's national order enforces these cancellations across the country.

All State Medical Councils have been asked to update their records and ensure that none of the four continue practising under any circumstances.

Part Of Jaish Terror Group

The action comes days after the J&K Police revealed details of a sophisticated network involving medical professionals. NDTV had earlier reported that the module stored nearly 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate, assault rifles, ammunition and electronic detonation components in rented flats in Srinagar and Faridabad.

Seized Ammonium Nitrate Explodes Inside Police Station In Srinagar's Nowgam

Several casualties were feared after an explosion took place in a large quantity of ammonium nitrate that was confiscated by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. According to initial information, the blast happened when a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), along with police, was checking the explosive material. The police station was severely damaged in the blast. The adjacent buildings have also sustained damage due to the explosion.

The injured have been rushed to the Indian Army's 92 Base Hospital and Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS). Senior police officials have reached Nowgam, and the area has been cordoned off.

It was the Station House Officer (SHO) of Nowgam who cracked the case of terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed's posters in various locations of the area.

These posters exposed the terror module in which radicalised highly-qualified professionals were involved. The discovery led to the recovery of massive explosive material and the arrest of several terror doctors.

In October, one of the arrested doctors, Adeel Ahmad Rather, was seen putting up these posters that warned of big attacks on security forces and "outsiders" in Kashmir. His arrest on October 27 uncovered a sinister network, which was later found to be behind the Delhi blast that claimed 13 lives earlier this week.

The investigation into the posters revealed a "white-collar terror ecosystem, involving radicalised professionals and students in contact with foreign handlers, operating from Pakistan and other countries", the Jammu and Kashmir police said.

When the police scanned the CCTV footage of areas where the Jiash posters were put up, they identified Rather, who worked at the Government Medical College in Anantnag till October last year before moving to Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

He was arrested soon after, and an assault rifle was also recovered from his locker in the Government Medical College.

While he was being questioned, the name of another doctor, Muzammil Shakeel, who worked at Al-Falah Medical College in Haryana's Faridabad, came up. During the raid at houses associated with Shakeel, the joint team of Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana Police recovered nearly 3,000 kg of Ammonium Nitrate. Shakeel's arrest led to more revelations and the arrest of another doctor, Shaheen Saeed - who worked at the same university - on Monday.

Hours later, an explosion ripped through a car which stopped at a red light on a jam-packed road near the iconic Red Fort, killing 13 people, injuring more than 20 and damaging several cars.

The next day, the name of another doctor - Umar Nabi - emerged. Top sources revealed he was driving the Hyundai i20 car in which the blast took place. Sources in the National Investigation Agency, which is probing the blast, said the seizure of the chemical used in bomb-making may have triggered a panic situation for the suspect and compelled him to relocate.

The sources told NDTV the nature of the blast indicates the suspect appeared to have assembled the improvised explosive device (IED) improperly. Investigators believe the suspects, in a panic, could not arm the IED for maximum damage.

"I really wanted the event to take place here, as I come from here. Wanting to make their lives better. As and when this project begins to roll, I hope people find their lives growing beautifully and exponentially, as they should."

Shah Rukh Khan On How Proud His Mother Would Be

He said, "My mother would be very happy. It is a very big honour. When my kids come, I will say, 'Papa ka naam likha hai, dekho.' I have seen all the details of this building for the past two months. It is state-of-the-art and affordable. For people who are starting off in Dubai, it will be a moment and an inspiration to make their lives."

Shah Rukh Khan's Viral Moment On Stage

Shah Rukh was an absolute sport as he made his signature pose on stage at the event. He also imitated his "Don" walk and delivered the iconic Om Shanti Om dialogue.

The famous dialogue was, "Itni shiddat se mein ne tumhe paane ki koshish ki hai, ki har zarre ne mujhe tumse milane ki saazish ki hai. Aaj aap sabne mujhe meri chaht se mila diya. Thanks, thanks very much."

He kept the audience pumped as he grooved to Chaiyaa Chaiyya on stage with Farah Khan and Rizwan.

About The Property

The project will take about three to four years to complete with 56 floors.

The tower by the Danube Group will be called Shahrukhz. There will also be a statue with Shah Rukh Khan's iconic pose, spreading his arms at the entrance, so that people can take pictures.

Shah Rukh Khan on what excited him about the project: "When Rizwan explained the idea of the building-to build something for people who come with the dream of finding a place for their businesses and houses in a place like Dubai-and if I can be a part of it and an inspiration, it will be the greatest gift."
